About the role
The IT Operations Manager is part of the Information Technology (IT) Section within the Information Services Department. The IT Section supports the Gallery’s information communication and technology (ICT) services across a number of sites, supporting remote access and emerging information technology requirements to meet our strategic and business needs.
The section provides the full suite of ICT services to enable all Gallery staff to access our IT network. This includes the applications we manage both on-premise and in cloud environments, and to enable reliable and safe devices for all staff to increase productivity and mobility. As a small team, all staff manage multiple capabilities and responsibilities, providing you with hands on experience across all facets of vendor management, ICT procurement, budgets and costings, IT Service Management, infrastructure, end user computing, IT and digital projects. As well as contributing to the Gallery’s strategic direction including the development of written briefs and presenting to the Gallery’s Executive team, responding to audit recommendations and setting the forward work plan for the IT team.
This role is critical in driving day-to-day delivery, managing key systems, and implementing network improvements to support organisational goals including managing and delivering projects across on premise enterprise virtualisation platforms for compute and storage; data centre, wireless, WAN and LAN networking; power distribution and UPS systems; audio visual systems including video conferencing, indoor/outdoor digital signage and entertainment systems; and security systems and facilities operations technology.
This position works closely with our vendor partners, cyber security, building facilities and security teams and our visitor experience and exhibition teams. The role supports the CIO with reporting and written briefs for the Executive, Audit and Risk Committee and Council.

Citizenship – To be eligible for employment with the Gallery, you must be an Australian citizen.
Police Check – to be eligible for this role you must complete a police check.
Security Assessment – The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance. Ongoing employment in this role requires the successful candidates to maintain a high-level security clearance. Loss of a security clearance at any time will lead to termination of employment.
