AI Software Developer

About The Role

We're growing our investment in modern, AI-assisted engineering, and we're looking for an AI Software Developer to own the end-to-end development of our enterprise merchandising application and other core line-of-business systems. Reporting to our Global Tech Director, you'll bring together strong software engineering fundamentals with modern AI-assisted and agentic development technologies, including large language models such as Claude, to build secure, scalable solutions that keep pace with a fast-growing retail business.

This role has real scope to shape how we build and support software at Princess Polly. You'll own work across the full development lifecycle from requirements through to deployment and production support, partnering with teams across our Global business.

What You'll Do

Own the end-to-end development and ongoing maintenance of our enterprise merchandising application.Design and build internal line-of-business applications, integrations, automations and supporting services, integrating with our existing enterprise platforms, databases, APIs and third-party services.Use AI-assisted and agentic development technologies, including large language models such as Claude, to improve development speed, quality and capability.Gather and translate business requirements into clear, well-documented technical solutions.Manage testing, deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting and production support to keep everything running smoothly.Stay ahead of emerging AI and software development technologies and recommend where we should adopt them.Work autonomously while keeping our Global Technology Director informed of progress, risks and delivery timelines.

What You'll Bring

Proven experience as a software developer, with demonstrated ownership of applications across the full development lifecycle (design, build, test, deploy, support).Practical experience using AI-assisted and agentic development tools (e.g. Claude, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot or similar) as part of a modern engineering workflow.Strong AI/agentic programming skills across relevant languages and frameworks, comfortable working across front-end, back-end and database layers.Experience integrating applications with enterprise platforms, databases, APIs and third-party services, plus cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.Working knowledge of information security, data privacy and secure coding principles.Self-directed and comfortable working autonomously, with a pragmatic, ownership-driven approach to problem solving and a genuine interest in emerging technology.
