Overdose is a global digital commerce agency working with some of the largest and most ambitious retail and B2B brands across Australia, New Zealand and further afield. We design, build and migrate commerce platforms, run marketing, SEO and GEO, have a scaling Data practice, and we increasingly do all of it AI-native.

The Opportunity:

Picture being the person a client calls before a single line of Shopify code gets touched, because your read on their business is what shapes the entire build. That's this role. You'll walk into discovery workshops with messy, half-formed problems, and walk out with a technical roadmap our Tech Leads can build against with total confidence.

You'll sit at the same intersection our most senior Shopify strategists do today, the bridge between deep technical delivery and client-facing strategy. One week you're scoping a complex Shopify Plus migration, the next you're in a client pitch or on stage at an industry event, carrying Overdose's Shopify reputation with you. Reporting to the Head of SaaS Delivery, you won't just deliver great work, you'll set the standard the rest of the SaaS team builds toward.

What you'll own:

• Technical strategy & discovery: Lead discovery workshops that turn ambiguous client requirements into a scoped, commercially grounded architecture, clear enough for Tech Leads and developers to build against with confidence.
• Client advisory & growth: Be the senior technical voice clients trust, backing every recommendation with real architectural reasoning, spotting growth opportunities, and keeping strategic direction aligned across the life of the account.
• Project & retainer oversight: Step in at the moments that matter, kick-off, scoping, launch, change requests, to unblock decisions and keep delivery aligned with the original strategic intent.
• Pitch & business development: Bring your Shopify expertise into client pitches, RFPs and industry events, helping shape Overdose's positioning across the AU market.
• Team mentorship: Sharpen the team's Shopify thinking through pitches and technical reviews, upskilling Tech Leads and CSMs along the way, and leaving people better at their craft.

What you'll bring:

We're after a strategic Shopify expert who can hold their own under real technical scrutiny, not just talk a good game. You'll need to be just as comfortable defending an architecture decision to a sharp developer as you are presenting it to a client's leadership team. 

You will probably have:

• 5+ years on Shopify, including Shopify Plus, with enterprise architecture know how.
• A track record scoping and translating requirements into technical roadmaps.
• Strong grasp of migrations, integrations and CRO, applied commercially.
• Commercial or consulting instincts, comfortable owning a recommendation and the business case behind it.
• Confident communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.
• Ability to think creatively and logically to shape bespoke strategies around each client's business objectives.
• Sharp attention to detail across client-facing deliverables and internal documentation.
• Comfort juggling multiple complex projects under tight deadlines.
• An appetite for using AI in your own work and client recommendations.
