About the Role

As a Collections Officer at Rapid Loans, you will deliver a friendly, professional and solutions-focused service to our customers from our modern contact centre near Miami Beach on the Gold Coast.

You will manage your own portfolio of accounts, working with customers to understand their circumstances, resolve overdue repayments and establish appropriate payment arrangements. A key part of the role is identifying early indicators of financial hardship and working closely with the customer and our Financial Hardship Officer to provide suitable assistance where required.

This role suits someone who is confident having constructive conversations, balances results with empathy, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contact customers via phone, email, SMS and post to discuss overdue accounts

• Negotiate realistic and sustainable payment arrangements aligned to customer circumstances

• Identify indicators of financial hardship and work with the customer and Financial Hardship Officer to provide appropriate assistance

• Identify potential disputes or complaints and assist customers by referring them to the Internal Dispute Resolution (IDR) team

• Provide clear, professional and respectful communication in line with company policies and regulatory requirements

• Use skip tracing tools to locate customers where contact has been lost

• Accurately record all customer interactions, arrangements and referrals in the CRM

• Collaborate with the broader team to achieve individual and team objectives

Required Skills:

• Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience in customer service, collections, finance or sales

• Previous collections or debt recovery experience is highly desirable

• Good time management, organisational and prioritisation skills

• Excellent customer service and negotiating skills

• Able to handle high pressure environments, remaining calm, courteous and methodical while demonstrating empathy to the customer as well as a determined and focused results orientation

• A team player, pitching in to help colleagues in a fast-paced environment

• Strong problem-solving capability and financial awareness

• Knowledge of relevant legislation including the NCCP Act, Privacy Act and ASIC guidelines desirable

• Australian citizenship or permanent residency required
