About the Role

The Strategic Projects Officer plays a key role in coordinating and supporting inTouch’s prevention and recovery initiatives, with a strong focus on culturally safe, community-led responses to family and sexual violence. This role is central to building community capacity and strengthening service responses that are informed by lived experience and grounded in cultural safety.

Working closely with Community Leaders and grass-roots organisations, the Strategic Projects Officer will foster trusted partnerships to enable:

• Effective information sharing, collaboration, and sector connection
• Continuous integration of community insight and sector knowledge to inform sexual and family violence initiatives, advocacy, and service model development
• Co-design and delivery of responsive initiatives—including podcasts, videos, and other engagement strategies—tailored to identified community needs
• Deep, place-based understanding of community dynamics and service systems to support meaningful and sustainable impact

Key Responsibilities

Essential:

• Coordinate the planning and delivery of prevention and recovery initiatives, with a strong focus on culturally safe responses to sexual and family violence, ensuring alignment with funding requirements and organisational priorities.
• Lead the coordination of key program activities, including practitioner training (in partnership with SETS, CASA, and NOOR Survivor-Advocates), prevention campaigns, and early intervention programs for migrant and refugee communities.
• Support the design and delivery of community capacity building initiatives that strengthen awareness, prevention, and recovery responses to sexual violence.
• Contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement of programs, ensuring outcomes are informed by trauma-informed and community capacity building approaches.
• Develop engaging, culturally responsive resources (including podcasts, videos, and digital content) in collaboration with subject matter experts to address community needs.
• Provide specialist input into training content on sexual and family violence within migrant and refugee contexts, maintaining contemporary knowledge of best practice and emerging trends.
• Build and sustain strong partnerships with community leaders, grass-roots organisations, and sector stakeholders to support collaboration, engagement, and service access.
• Monitor and report on program activities, outcomes, and emerging community needs to inform service delivery, advocacy, and continuous improvement.

Key Selection Criteria 

• Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Community Development or Community Services
• Proven experience in project coordination or management and delivery within the settlement, community development or primary prevention of family and sexual violence sectors.
• Proven professional experience in a similar role in content and curriculum development, preferably within related discipline.
• Proven knowledge of the national family violence landscape and the complexities of family and sexual violence of migrants and refugees, and the needs of multicultural communities and wider sectors.
• Strong technical skills, including proficiency in multimedia tools, and emerging technology trends to integrate into training content development.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and concise training materials
• Proven experience working within the settlement, community development and/or family and sexual violence sectors including lived and living experience.
• Demonstrated ability to oversee complex, multi-location programs, including resource allocation, team coordination and excellent partner and stakeholder engagement.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including experience in partnership development and support, and stakeholder collaboration.
• Strong understanding of the challenges faced by migrant and refugee communities, including systemic barriers to justice and wellbeing.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, with a track record of delivering programs on time and within scope.
• Strong data collection, analysis and reporting skills to monitor program outcomes and impact.
