About the role
Pichi Richi Railway Preservation Society is seeking an experienced and motivated Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of one of Australia's most iconic heritage railways.
Reports to:
Board Delegate (Secretary or Nominee)
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage the safe and efficient operation of PRRPS train services
• Coordinate paid staff and support volunteer managers and coordinators
• Liaise with contractors and external rail service providers
• Support compliance with Rail Safety National Law and PRRPS Safety Management Systems
• Coordinate maintenance priorities and operational readiness of railway assets
• Prepare reports and provide advice to the Board Delegate
• Ensure operational KPIs and contractual obligations are achieved
Essential Requirements
• Minimum 5 years experience managing people and operations
• Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills
• Certificate IV in Management (or equivalent)
• Current South Australian Drivers Licence
• Ability to work collaboratively with employees, volunteers and contractors
• Commitment to work health and safety and rail safety compliance
Desirable
• Heritage railway, tourism or transport industry experience
• Experience working with volunteers
• Rail industry qualifications and operational knowledge
