About the role

As an Assistant Accountant, you will be joining a dynamic team of 9 based in Pyrmont, Sydney. Reporting to the Senior Group Accountant, you will be responsible for tasks in Accounts Payable & Receivable, Inventory, Tax, month end processes, and monthly analysis and reporting. Gain experience across various Accounting areas.

Role responsibilities include:

Accounts Payable & Receivable

• Payment processing, including local and overseas payments

• Manage Foreign exchange bookings, and weekly hedging position report

• Clearance invoices allocation

• Process employee expense reimbursements

• Landed cost allocation

• Proof of Delivery checking and Accounts Receivable invoices

Inventory

• Perform regular inventory stock reconciliations

• Investigate inventory stock variances

Month end

• Maintain the Fixed Assets register, including additions, disposals, and depreciation calculations

• Manage prepayment schedules

• Manage Intercompany accounts and transactions

• Month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, depreciation, inventory adjustments, foreign exchange adjustments, and other accounting entries

Taxation

• Prepare monthly New Zealand GST returns

• Assist with BAS preparation when required

• Annual Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) process

Analysis and Reporting

• Monthly Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet analysis

• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes

• Assist with external audit requirements

Best suitable candidate

• A Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance

• 2-3 years experience in an Accounting or Finance role

• Progressing towards a CPA or CA qualification

• Well organised, attention to detail, and ability to work accurately 

• Strong communication skills. Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English

• Interest in identifying and delivering improvements to internal processes 

• Work experience in SAP Business One would be advantageous

Office based in Pyrmont, Sydney.

Work from home hybrid arrangement available after probation period.

KPI bonus system after probation period.

Salary commensurate with experience.
