Your Role

Applications are invited for the full-time continuing position of Consultant: Teaching and Learning, commencing January 2027.  This role, ideally based in Gladstone or Bundaberg, provides support to Catholic schools across the Southern Region (Gladstone, Biloela, Monto, Tannum Sands and Bundaberg).

The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in advancing excellence in teaching and learning across Catholic Education - Diocese of Rockhampton, with a particular focus on Literacy and evidence-informed curriculum practice. Working in partnership with Principals, Assistant Principals Curriculum and school leadership teams, they will support the implementation of the system's shared vision for teaching and learning, ensuring consistent, high-quality curriculum delivery, assessment practices and data-informed decision-making that contribute to improved student outcomes. 

The successful applicant will foster a culture of collaboration, growth and continuous improvement through high-quality coaching, mentoring  and professional learning that strengthens the capability of school leaders and educators. Working closely with school leaders, they will build leadership capacity, deepen curriculum expertise and enhance instructional practice across schools. Through targeted professional learning, strategic support and the development of resources that respond to identified needs, they will empower educators to confidently implement system priorities, utilise assessment data effectively and drive sustained school improvement. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced educational leader to influence practice, build professional capability and contribute to improved outcomes for students across the Diocese. 

Typical duties include, but are not limited:

• Work with school communities to implement our shared vision for teaching and learning across all curriculum areas with a particular emphasis on Literacy
• In collaboration with school leadership teams, mentor, coach and facilitate professional learning to build capacity and expertise in every school, leading to demonstrable, targeted school improvement
• Support, coach and mentor APCs, with reference to the AITSL Middle Leader Standards
• Facilitate the successful implementation of system-wide assessment and ongoing data analysis, building data literacy capabilities of leaders and teachers
• Engage productively and respectfully with school communities to ensure Principals and Assistant Principals Curriculum accurately understand system level information and consistently implement system level processes with fidelity
• Collaborate with members of the Curriculum Support Team to ensure coherence and consistency of approaches and advice, contributing to the achievement of system improvement goals

Mandatory Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualifications and current Queensland College of Teachers Registration 
• Current Driver's Licence 
• Ability to travel within the Catholic Diocese of Rockhampton
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
