Live aboard on the Great Barrier Reef for 3 nights
Quicksilver Cruises is Australia's leading Great Barrier Reef tourism operator. We are seeking an experienced Offshore Skipper to join our team on the Agincourt Reef. This exceptional opportunity will allow you to use your leadership and maritime skills to build a career with a stable and innovative tourism leader.
The position operates on a 4 days on / 2 days off rotating roster and requires three consecutive nights living onboard our offshore vessel, based at Agincourt Reef. The roster includes weekends and public holidays, including Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. While at sea, you will play a vital role in ensuring safe vessel operations, leading crew and delivering an exceptional experience for our guests.
About the Role
As Offshore Skipper, you will be responsible for:
Commanding and safely navigating our offshore vessel in line with AMSA requirements and company procedures
Overseeing daily vessel operations, including mooring, tender launches and logistics at the reef platform
Ensuring compliance with safety management systems and emergency response protocols
Leading, supporting and mentoring crew to achieve high standards of service and safety
Assisting with engineering duties, daily maintenance and monitoring vessel performance
Providing clear and professional communication with guests and crew
Required Qualifications and Experience
Master >24 (Near Coastal) or above, with a minimum of 2 years' experience
MED 2 or above, with a minimum 2 years' experience
Current Advanced Resuscitation (HLTAID015), CPR (HLTAID009) and First Aid (HLTAID011)
Proven ability to lead and motivate a crew of deckhands on a rotating roster
Minimum 2 years managing crew off-shore
Experience with Detroit, MTU, Cummins, Scania and Deutz Diesel Engines (highly desirable)
Excellent people and communication skills, with a focus on safety and customer experience
