About the role
Oakvale Wildlife Park is a family-run, 100% Australian-owned wildlife park set on 25 acres in Salt Ash, Port Stephens. For over 40 years we've cared for native and exotic animals, from koalas and kangaroos to red pandas. Animal welfare and conservation sit at the heart of everything we do. We're looking for people to join us who share that passion.
Love being outdoors and want a role that directly supports our animals' wellbeing? As our Leaf Cutter, you'll be part of the daily rhythm of the park, harvesting and preparing fresh browse and native plant material that keeps our koalas and other resident wildlife happy and healthy.
It's hands-on, physical work with a real sense of purpose behind every load, and a great fit for anyone who'd rather spend their day outdoors than behind a desk.
What you'll do:
Source, cut and prepare fresh browse and native plant material for our animals each day
Work outdoors across the park's 25 acres in all weather conditions
Coordinate with keepers to understand daily browse requirements for different species
Maintain tools and equipment used for browse collection
Support broader animal care tasks as needed
What we're looking for:
A genuine interest in horticulture, native plants or land care
Comfortable with physical, outdoor work, this role is active and hands-on
Reliable, punctual and happy with early starts
No formal experience required, just a strong work ethic and a love of the outdoors
Applications close 31st August 2026
Due to an expected high volume of applications, only successful applicants will be contacted.
