About the role
Insight Early Learning Kelmscott is looking for a dedicated Kitchen Hand or Cook to join our friendly team. We have full-time and part-time opportunities available, with 30–38 hours per week.
This role is about providing additional support in our kitchen, including helping with food preparation, keeping the kitchen clean and organised, and assisting with cooking when required, such as when our regular cook is away.

About the RoleYour role will be an important part of supporting our kitchen and centre team. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in preparing fresh, healthy and nutritious meals for children and enjoys working as part of a friendly team.
A typical day may include:
Assisting with the preparation of fresh, nutritious meals and snacks for children.
Preparing and cooking meals when required, including providing cover for our regular cook when they are away.
Catering for individual dietary requirements, allergies and cultural preferences.
Assisting with menus to ensure meals are balanced, varied and suitable for young children.
Helping with food stock, ordering supplies and minimising food waste.
Following food safety, hygiene and health regulations to maintain a safe kitchen environment.
Keeping the kitchen clean, organised and well maintained throughout the day.
Working closely with the centre team to support positive mealtimes and children's learning through food and cooking experiences where appropriate.
Building positive relationships with children, families and teammates.
Working as part of a friendly team to create enjoyable and positive mealtimes for the children.
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen, childcare setting, or similar environment.
A current Working with Children Check (or be able to obtain one before starting).
A current Food Handling Certificate and Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
A strong understanding of food safety, kitchen hygiene, and safe food handling practices.
A genuine passion for preparing healthy, nutritious meals for young children.
A positive, friendly, and caring attitude.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
The ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive team.
