Crew Member Horticultural Maintenance

• 3x Full-time (Part-time considered) permanent opportunities available
• Fortnightly rostered day off
• Band 3: $70k- $74k per annum (depending on experience) + plus industry allowance + Superannuation

About the role
Are you passionate about working outdoors, staying active and providing excellent care of local parks and gardens?

We are looking for a dedicated Crew Member to join the Horticulture Maintenance team, and help maintain gardens throughout the municipality.

You will play an important role in maintaining our existing assets and places as well as creating new, vibrant and sustainable spaces that meet the current and future needs of our community.

What you’ll be doing

• Assist in increasing horticultural value in Glen Eira’s parks, gardens and streetscapes
• Under direction by the Crew Leader, assist in the horticultural maintenance in the areas of planting pruning, weed control, mulching, cleaning, and other associated park presentation tasks
• Deliver daily tasks as set out in work schedules within agreed timeframes and standards set by Team Leader Horticultural Maintenance
• Provide assistance and information to members of the public when requested
• Collaborate with other Park Services teams
• Ensure that all works are carried out in accordance with agreed OH&S guidelines and safe working practices at all times.

About you
You are passionate about horticulture and maintaining high quality public open space, and enjoy working in a team. You bring experience and proficiency in the safe operation and maintenance of a range of horticultural plant and equipment.

You will bring:

• A love of plants
• Demonstrated passion for horticulture and maintaining high-quality public landscapes
• Relevant experience and/or qualifications in horticulture field
• Excellent plant knowledge and identification skills
• Understanding of appropriate planting and maintenance techniques
• Experience with safe operation and maintenance of parks maintenance and landscaping plant and equipment
• Basic knowledge of irrigation and ability to troubleshoot and make basic repairs
• Demonstrated commitment and adherence to organisational values and behaviours
• Ability to use basic mobile technology for the completion of work documentation and including the use of an asset management system is desirable
• Current Australian Drivers licence
• Medium Rigid Truck Licence or willingness to obtain
• AgVet Chemical Users Certificate (desirable).
