About the role

Greg Thornton Constructions is seeking a qualified skilled Carpenter to join our team on a regular casual basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work on diverse construction projects in the inner Brisbane city area. As a Carpenter, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality carpentry work across residential projects, contributing to the reputation for excellence that Greg Thornton Constructions has built in the construction industry. Key responsibilities

• Measure, cut, and shape timber and other materials to precise specifications using hand tools and power tools

• Assemble, install, and finish timber structures including frames, doors, windows, and cabinetry

• Read and interpret architectural plans and technical drawings to understand project requirements

• Prepare work sites, including setting up safety measures and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations

• Install and fit carpentry components such as skirting boards, architraves, and built-in furniture

• Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and client specifications

• Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and report any issues promptly

• Collaborate effectively with other tradespeople and construction team members on site

• Adhere to all workplace health and safety procedures and site-specific requirements

What we're looking for

• Experienced qualified carpenter with expertise in Architectural design and construction

• Proven expertise in timber work, joinery, and general carpentry practices

• Proficiency in using both hand tools and power tools safely and effectively

• Ability to read and interpret building plans, specifications, and technical drawings accurately

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship

• Strong problem solving skills

• Valid driver's license, own tools and reliable transport to attend multiple job sites

• Knowledge of workplace health and safety standards and construction industry best practices

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment

• Experience in supervising and training apprentices an advantage
