About the role
Are you an experienced accountant who enjoys variety, takes pride in getting the detail right and likes being part of a collaborative team?
DVT McLeod’s is currently seeking an experienced Practice Accountant to join our team full-time, based in our Parramatta office. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll play an important part in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the practice.

About the roleWorking closely with our CFO and broader team, you’ll be responsible for a diverse range of accounting and finance activities, including:Trust and client accounting, including transactions, reconciliations and monthly statementsAccounts payable, banking and bookkeepingBilling, debtors, WIP and client reportingBank, credit card and general ledger reconciliationsSupporting BAS preparation and lodgementPreparing monthly balance sheet, profit and loss and consolidated reportingProcessing monthly payroll and assisting with superannuation and payroll tax reportingPreparing financial and ad hoc reports for Partners and ManagersChecking and coordinating work completed by junior finance team membersProviding practical support to the CFO across finance and agreed HR activities.
The role also involves working with clients, suppliers, professional advisers and other stakeholders, so clear communication and a professional approach will be important.
About youWe’re looking for someone who is organised, reliable and comfortable taking ownership of their work.To be successful, you’ll bring:A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related disciplineCPA/CA qualified or currently studying towards your qualificationAt least three years’ experience in a similar accounting role, ideally within professional servicesProven payroll processing experienceStrong Microsoft Office skills, particularly ExcelExperience with accounting software, preferably XeroStrong attention to detail and accuracyClear communication skills and a collaborative approachAustralian citizenship or permanent residency What we’re looking forJust as importantly, you’ll be someone who brings integrity, accountability and initiative to your work. You’ll enjoy being part of a team, be comfortable working across competing priorities and have the judgement to know when something needs to be escalated.
