Yard Hand/Driver Trainee - Townsville

About the Role

• Keep the depot, trucks, trailers and equipment clean, organised and ready for safe work

• Assist with loading and unloading, preloading trailers, and trailer audits under guidance

• Progress through structured on-the-job training toward your heavy vehicle licence

• Travel with the Leading Hand and experienced drivers to learn preloads and job preparation

• Build real depot and driving skills from day one

Essential Requirements

• Current Queensland driver licence, with eligibility to progress to a heavy vehicle licence

• Reliable, safety-focused and genuinely keen to build a driving career

• Physically fit for active, outdoor depot work

• Australian working rights

Desirable (or willingness to obtain)

• Forklift and loader licence

• White Card and load-restraint training

• Guaranteed 40 hours per week + 2 x 30-minute paid breaks daily

After 12 Months You Will Have

• Certificate III in Driving Operations

• LF/Forklift licence & experience unloading general freight material

• Loader ticket & experience unloading general freight material

• Stocktaking and stock control management experience

• High-level load restraint experience — roofing iron, steel & mesh, trusses, power poles, general freight

• Experience with cranes, and truck & trailer lengths, widths and weights

• NHVR compliance exposure — fatigue, mass, maintenance

• Electronic Work Diary (EWD) & transport systems experience
