About Middlemount Coal Mine
Middlemount Coal Mine is located approximately 90 kilometres north-east of Emerald and 7 kilometres west of the township of Middlemount in Queensland's Bowen Basin.
Middlemount is an open-cut coal mining operation that utilises conventional truck and excavator mining methods. Since commencing full-scale operations in 2011, the mine has produced approximately 4 million tonnes per annum of premium coking and PCI coal for export markets. With an expected mine life of more than 30 years, Middlemount offers long-term career opportunities in a stable and growing mining operation.
Middlemount Coal Pty Ltd (MCPL) is an incorporated joint venture between Peabody Energy Australia Pty Ltd and Yancoal Australia Ltd.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated CHPP Electrical Operator/Maintainer to join our CHPP team on a permanent 7/7 roster.
Reporting to the CHPP Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting electrical inspections, preventative maintenance, fault finding and breakdown response, while also supporting plant operations including stockpile management and mobile equipment operation as required.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain, inspect and repair CHPP electrical equipment and infrastructure during scheduled maintenance and operational periods.
Perform first response troubleshooting and breakdown repairs to minimise plant downtime.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance activities in accordance with site procedures and OEM requirements.
Ensure compliance with site safety systems, statutory requirements and critical controls.
Operate mobile equipment including loaders and stockpile dozers where authorised.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant performance and reliability.
Work collaboratively with operations, maintenance and technical personnel to achieve production targets.
About You
You are a safety-focused team player who thrives in a dynamic mining environment and demonstrates a strong commitment to operational excellence.
You will possess:
Queensland Electrical Work Licence.
Electrical trade qualification (essential).
Previous CHPP, coal processing or heavy industrial maintenance experience.
Demonstrated fault-finding and troubleshooting capability on fixed plant equipment.
Experience operating CHPP equipment, loaders and stockpile dozers highly regarded.
Strong understanding of safety risks and hazards within a coal handling and processing environment.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
A positive, proactive and can-do attitude.
Standard 11 Induction.
Current Coal Board Medical (or ability to obtain).
