Maintenance Technician

Harvey Water is an Irrigation Cooperative delivering non-potable water to our agricultural and industrial customers. We are currently looking for an efficient, safety minded Maintenance Technician with the capacity and motivation to grow and learn in the safe operations of the Harvey Water systems. This role provides an opportunity to join an exceptional team, working with a variety of machines, equipment, and with the ideal candidate being capable of working with minimal oversight but willing to follow directions closely.

Job Description

The position will rotate through the various asset based and delivery operation areas of our responsibility. This entails a range of tasks, such as:

• Maintenance and construction tasks at a high standard, to instruction and within safety, time and budget parameters

• Assist with Poly-welding duties (butt, EF and extrusion) on HDPE pipe and fittings (Training maybe optional for successful applicant)

• Handle and transport materials (e.g. building materials) and equipment (e.g. tooling)

• Assist with the installation, repair or replace various types of operating and measuring devices

• Minor concrete works and form work

• Lift heavy loads up to 20 kg

• Identify utility lines

• Set-up and clean-up of tasks at job sites

• Direct traffic when necessary to ensure safety of pedestrians, motorists and work crew (if required, training may be offered for the successful applicant)

• Back-fill trenches and pits when necessary

• Provide labour support as needed for specialty crew

• Perform general maintenance of construction equipment and vehicles   

• Other general maintenance activities as directed

Skills and Attributes

This role requires:

• A valid driver’s licence

• High safety and housekeeping standards

• General mechanical understanding and problem solving

• Able to work autonomously and/or in a team environment

• Construction industry experience preferred

• Basic understanding of construction/operational principles and procedures

• Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle

• Comfort working in environment with extreme weather fluctuations

• Excellent communication and time management skills

• Strong interpersonal skills

• Able to undertake a pre-employment medical.

Location

The position will be based in Harvey, WA and surrounding areas.  

Term of Employment

The position is offered on a full-time basis, following an initial six-month probationary period and dependent on satisfactory performance reviews. 

Salary Range

Base salary, plus 14.5% superannuation and access to a bonus program dependent on skills, qualifications, and experience.
