We are seeking an experienced, motivated and hands-on Warehouse Team Leader to take responsibility for the day-to-day coordination, performance and efficiency of our warehouse operations.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who enjoys working with people, leads by example and takes pride in maintaining high standards of accuracy, productivity, safety and customer service.
Reporting to the Operations Team Leader, you will lead and coordinate the warehouse team, ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of stock from receiving through to storage, picking, packing and dispatch.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Manage daily warehouse operations – coordinate receiving, storage, stock movements, picking, packing and dispatch to ensure customer orders are completed accurately and on time.
Lead and coordinate the warehouse team – allocate daily workloads, monitor productivity, provide direction and ensure team members understand their responsibilities and priorities.
Maintain inventory accuracy – oversee stock movements, cycle counts and adjustments, investigate discrepancies and ensure all inventory transactions are accurately recorded in the system.
Ensure procedures are followed – enforce company processes, safety requirements, quality standards and correct warehouse system workflows.
Monitor team performance – provide training, coaching and feedback while maintaining accountability for accuracy, productivity, attendance and workplace conduct.
Forklift and warehouse equipment operations – ensure forklifts and warehouse equipment are operated safely and responsibly and report maintenance or repair requirements promptly.
Drive warehouse safety and housekeeping – maintain a clean, organised and safe warehouse and ensure all team members follow workplace health and safety and manual-handling requirements.
Improve warehouse efficiency – identify and implement practical improvements to reduce picking errors, delays, stock damage, unnecessary handling and operational inefficiencies.
Support other departments – work closely with Sales, Operations and Management to ensure warehouse priorities align with customer and business requirements.
Address minor performance and conduct issues promptly and professionally.
Escalate serious or ongoing performance, conduct or disciplinary matters to the Operations Team Leader or Manager in accordance with company procedures.
Follow up dispatch delays and incomplete orders, identifying the cause and ensuring outstanding orders are resolved as quickly as possible.
Monitor daily dispatch requirements and work with the warehouse team to ensure orders are ready for scheduled collections and deliveries.
Follow up receiving discrepancies, including shortages, incorrect products, damaged stock or discrepancies between received goods and supplier documentation.
The successful candidate must have:
Previous warehouse leadership or supervisory experience.
A current forklift licence and demonstrated practical experience operating a forklift safely.
Demonstrated experience in inventory control and stock management.
Experience supervising, training and allocating work to warehouse staff.
Experience using warehouse, inventory, ERP or stock management systems. more specifically Cin7 and StarShipit
Strong understanding of warehouse procedures, stock control and process compliance.
Strong computer literacy and the ability to confidently use warehouse and business systems.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
Ability to manage competing priorities and remain organised in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Ability to work hands-on and actively participate in warehouse operations when required.
The following would be highly regarded:
Experience in wholesale, distribution or trade environments.
Experience working with electronic security, electrical, technology or related products.
Experience with warehouse management systems, barcode scanning or RF scanning technology.
Experience implementing warehouse process improvements and productivity initiatives.
