Payroll Officer

You will bring demonstrated payroll expertise across multiple awards and strong analytical skills to support ongoing payroll operations, along with a genuine commitment to delivering a high standard of service to employees and managers.

More specifically you will have:

• Demonstrated experience in end-to-end payroll processing in a complex, award-based environment, with strong knowledge of payroll legislation including PAYG, superannuation, workers compensation and FBT
• Experience processing pay using Dayforce (or a similar system) is highly regarded, including understanding of pay rule configuration, leave accruals, termination processing and reporting features
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUP, pivot tables and formula-based reconciliations
• High attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve payroll discrepancies independently
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to engage stakeholders across People & Culture, Finance and IT
• Commitment to the values and mission of the St Vincent de Paul Society, with a strong customer service mindset and the ability to manage sensitive payroll queries with discretion

This role supports business-as-usual payroll functions for the organisation. You will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely fortnightly payroll processing, reporting and compliance, while providing responsive support to employees and managers across Victoria. Experience with Dayforce would be highly beneficial, as the role involves processing pay and managing payroll events within the platform. 

• Administer and process accurate and timely fortnightly payrolls, including employee movements, salary changes, terminations and other payroll events, ideally within Dayforce
• Maintain payroll records and ensure timesheets, leave applications and adjustments are processed accurately within system cut-off dates
• Ensure payroll compliance with PAYG, superannuation, FBT, long service leave and other statutory obligations, prepare and support submission of statutory returns including STP and ATO reporting
• Assist with Workers Compensation processes
• Generate, reconcile and contribute to payroll reports (including superannuation, tax and deductions) and support month-end, year-end and audit processes
• Provide responsive, professional support to employees and managers on payroll queries, procedures, timelines and entitlements
• Identify and implement payroll process improvements, working with People & Culture, Finance and IT to enhance integration and process alignment
