Store Manager

About the role

Alter It Melbourne Central is seeking an experienced and motivated Store Manager to join the team in Melbourne Central, VIC. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on retail professional with strong store management, customer service and team leadership skills, with tailoring, sewing or garment alteration experience highly preferred. As the Store Manager, you will be responsible for the overall day-to-day operation and performance of the store, ensuring excellent customer service, high-quality workmanship, strong sales performance and efficient store operations. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing the business and customer-facing side of the store, while also understanding the technical aspects of garment alterations and tailoring.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the Alter It Melbourne Central store
• Lead, motivate and manage staff to achieve sales, productivity and customer service targets
• Provide exceptional customer service and build strong relationships with customers
• Conduct customer consultations, garment fittings and accurate measurements
• Assess garments and recommend the most appropriate alteration or tailoring solution
• Perform or assist with garment alterations and tailoring when required
• Oversee the quality and accuracy of all completed alterations
• Ensure garments are completed within agreed turnaround times
• Manage customer orders, garment tracking, collections and work-in-progress
• Monitor daily sales, productivity, wages and overall store performance

About you

• Previous experience as a Store Manager, Retail Manager, Assistant Manager or similar leadership role
• Strong retail, sales and customer service experience
• Proven ability to lead, train and motivate a team
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to work towards sales and productivity targets
• Excellent communication, organisation and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of store performance
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Confidence handling customer complaints and resolving issues professionally
• Good computer, POS and administrative skills
• Tailoring experience – highly preferred
