Assistant Accountant

Join Our Finance Team

Mitchell Services has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join our growing Finance Team on a full-time, permanent basis.

This role is ideal for a 3rd or 4th year Accounting or Commerce student, recent graduate, or candidate with 1–2 years’ experience looking to build their accounting career. You’ll gain practical exposure across month-end accounting, reconciliations, fixed assets, management reporting, BAS compliance and cash flow forecasting, while working alongside an experienced and supportive Finance Team.

We’re looking for an ambitious individual with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills and an outstanding work ethic. Key Responsibilities

• Processing of month-end journal entries including all accruals and prepayments
• Timely completion of balance sheet reconciliations for all entities within the Group
• Maintenance of fixed asset registers for all entities within the Group including recognition of new assets and monthly running of depreciation
• Preparation of monthly management reports to senior stakeholders in the business
• Taxation and Treasury exposure including preparation of monthly BAS obligations and weekly cash flow forecasting

About You

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organised and eager to develop their accounting career.

You will bring:

• A recently completed (or nearing completion) Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Commerce.
• A high motivation to commence your CA or CPA post-graduate studies
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a close-knit team
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines whilst maintaining attention to detail
• A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn
• 1–2 years’ experience in a similar accounting role would be highly regarded
