Clinical Nurse (Intensive Care Unit)

Lead and manage a team, assisting and supporting shift coordination and the ACCESS role, supporting staffing, and promoting a positive workplace culture.

The Role

An opportunity has become available for several Clinical Nurses to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 14 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

• Respond and provide support, direction, and appropriate escalation to manage sudden deterioration in patients, using advanced assessment and intervention skills
• Apply advanced nursing expertise, including assessment, planning and implementation and evaluation to continuously deliver quality health care in all critical care scenarios
• Apply change management principles by support, guidance, monitoring, role modelling and the promotion of cooperation and collaborative teamwork
• Support, guide and direct other clinical staff and non-registered nurse personnel, supporting patient needs and providing information and assistance to patients, families and the wider community

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

• Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent  
• Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
• Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
• Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
• Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
• Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

• Permanent part time (72 hrs per fortnight)
• Base salary ranging from $57.76 - $61.85 per hour

About Us

Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH) Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a 25 ICU equivalent bed platform unit, admitting over 2200 patients per year. As a Level 3 Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Society (ANZICS)/ Level 6 tertiary unit/Level 1 Trauma Centre, this unit provides an extensive tertiary service to the Gold Coast District of Queensland.

The GCUH ICU manages a varied case mix of patients and conditions. These include major trauma, extra corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, vascular surgery, major head and nick, maxilla facial and ear, nose and throat surgery, and other medical and surgical emergency and elective admissions.

GCUH and Robina Hospital are both part of the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service and operate as an integrated platform.
