The Director of Early Learning provides educational, operational, and pastoral leadership across the Early Learning Centre (Preschool and Kindergarten). The role leads a regulated early childhood service while supporting families throughout their early school journey.

As part of the Junior School Leadership Team, the Director aligns Early Learning with the broader Junior School while upholding key developmental and regulatory standards.

Through collaborative leadership, the Director fosters a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment, advocates for early childhood education, and ensures a smooth transition from Preschool into Kindergarten and the Junior School.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Early Learning Centre’s daily operations and staff, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, the National Quality Framework, the Early Years Learning Framework, Child Safe Standards, School policies, and Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School’s strategic direction.
• Serving as a key entry point to the School, fostering positive family connections, oversee pastoral care.
• Collaborate with Junior School staff to ensure continuous learning, wellbeing and belonging from Preschool through Kindergarten.
• Ensure child safeguarding requirements are embedded across all Early Learning operations, including staffing, induction, supervision, visitors, external providers, excursions and daily practice.
• Lead Preschool and Kindergarten enrolment, orientation and transition processes in collaboration with the Enrolments Team and relevant Junior School staff.
• Support children and families to develop a strong sense of connection, belonging and identity within the Lindisfarne community from their earliest experiences with the School.

The salary offered will be commensurate with the successful applicant's skills, qualifications and experience and will be based on the teaching salaries in the Independent Schools NSW Teachers Co-operative Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025.

Essential

• Approved Early Childhood Teaching or relevant qualification.
• Current NSW WWCC, first aid, anaphylaxis, asthma certifications, and NESA accreditation
• Strong knowledge of EYLF and evidence-based early childhood pedagogy.
• Comprehensive understanding of NQF, NQS, and relevant education legislation.
• Solid understanding of child protection, mandatory reporting, and child safety standards.
• Proven early childhood experience with strong educational, operational, and staff leadership skills.
• Experience leading Quality Improvement Planning and familiarity with Assessment and Rating.
• Demonstrated ability to support inclusive practice and children with additional needs.
• Strong understanding of transition-to-school practice and continuity of learning between Preschool, Kindergarten and the broader school setting.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills to build strong stakeholder partnerships.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively within the Junior School Leadership Team.

Desirable

• Experience in an Early Learning Centre or Preschool operating within a school setting.
• Previous experience in an Early Childhood Director, Educational Leader or similar leadership role.
• Experience successfully supporting or leading an Early Learning service through the Assessment and Rating process.
• Experience developing and embedding nature-based, sustainability and/or Caring for Country programs.
• Experience contributing to broader school initiatives, strategic priorities and cross-school collaboration.

Selection Criteria

Educational Leadership and Curriculum Development: Demonstrate a history of designing innovative curricula aligned with standards and student needs while modelling effective teaching practices.

Student Wellbeing and Pastoral Care: Outline your ability to nurture student well-being, implement strong pastoral care, and collaborate with staff to create a positive learning environment.

Resource Management and Environmental Stewardship: Highlight experience in identifying resource needs, budget preparation, and promoting sustainable practices within an educational context.

Community Engagement and Collaboration: Illustrate your skill in engaging with the School community, representing the School, and contributing to co-curricular activities while ensuring supervision and active involvement.

Commitment to Anglican Ethos: Demonstrated and genuine commitment to upholding and embodying the Anglican Identity and Christian Ethos of the School with clear evidence of Compassion, Wisdom, and Respect in all interactions with students, staff, and the broader school community.
