The Role:

We are seeking casual Barrier Attendants to work casually at race meetings and trials across Tasmania. 

• Shifts available at Hobart, Longford, Launceston, and Devonport

• Trials are generally held on Monday or Tuesday beginning at 10:30am (minimum shift is 4 hours pay)

• Race meetings are generally held on Wednesday and Friday nights from 5:30pm to 10:00pm and Sunday from 11:00am to 5:30pm

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle and load horses into the barriers

• Provide vital support for the jockeys and horses in and behind the barriers.

• Check that horses are wearing approved equipment and refit any damaged equipment. 

• Communicate with the starter to ensure all horses are ready and able to be released for a fair start to the race each time.

• Adhere to Health & Safety procedures including wearing the applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and uniform at all times

About you:

• Reliable and hard-working approach

• Excellent communication skills

• Previous experience working with horses

• Current driver’s license 

• Enjoy working as part of a team
