Warehouse Operations Manager (Steel)

About the role:

Rockmount is recruiting on behalf of a well-established, nationally operating steel supplier and processor based in Narellan. They warehouse and process structural steel and plate for the construction, engineering and fabrication industries. This is a permanent position reporting directly to the General Manager, with full authority over the warehouse — staff, machinery, vehicles, WHS and stock are all yours to run. You'll be part of the core management team and need to lead from the front on a fast-moving floor.

What you'll be doing:

•     Overseeing all warehousing, processing and distribution operations across the Narellan site

•     Managing a team of 12 — rosters, leave coverage and day-to-day performance

•     Implementing, maintaining and improving WHS procedures

•     Coordinating logistics for 3 trucks (a supervisor is coming on board soon to take this off your plate)

•     Managing stock control and liaising with the sales team on incoming client orders

•     Driving process improvement while keeping existing systems on track

•     Ordering materials, equipment and supplies, with GM sign-off on larger purchases

What you'll need:

•     Background in the steel industry — non-negotiable, with an understanding of processing equipment

•     3+ years' experience as an Operations Manager (or similar) within a steel facility

•     Sound knowledge of warehousing and distribution activities

•     Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS)

•     Strong communication skills across all levels, floor to GM

•     NSW driver's licence

•     Lean Six Sigma highly regarded

•     Transport and logistics experience highly regarded
