Drver Engagement & Training Manager

About the role

Reporting to the Op's Manager, the Driver Engagement & Training Manager will take ownership of the driver journey — from attracting prospective drivers and guiding them through onboarding, to training, ongoing support and engagement. A key part of the role will also be leading and developing Cairns Taxis' Driver Ambassador Program, creating a strong group of experienced drivers who can support new drivers, promote professional standards and strengthen engagement across the driver network.

Key responsibilities

• Driver Recruitment – actively recruit new drivers through advertising, community engagement, referrals and other recruitment initiatives.

• Onboarding – guide prospective drivers through the application, accreditation and onboarding process, helping them get on the road as efficiently as possible.

• Driver Training – coordinate and deliver induction and practical training for new drivers, including systems, customer service, safety, procedures and professional standards.

• Ongoing Driver Support – provide a visible and approachable point of contact for drivers, helping resolve issues and connecting drivers with the appropriate CTL resources.

• Driver Engagement – maintain regular communication with drivers and develop initiatives that improve participation, retention and the overall driver experience.

• Driver Ambassador Program – lead, coordinate and grow the Ambassador Program, including selecting and supporting ambassadors and using their experience to mentor and assist other drivers.

• Standards & Performance – reinforce CTL's expectations around customer service, presentation, safety and professional conduct.

• Continuous Improvement – identify opportunities to improve driver recruitment, training, retention and engagement.

About you

• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

• Experience in recruitment, training, coaching, workforce engagement or a similar people-focused role.

• The confidence to deliver training to individuals and groups.

• A practical, solutions-focused approach to problem solving.

• Strong communication and organisational skills.

• The ability to build rapport with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.

• A willingness to be hands-on and spend time engaging directly with drivers.

• Good computer and administrative skills.
