About the Opportunity

This opportunity is intended to be undertaken as an unpaid, university-approved vocational or Work Integrated Learning placement, subject to approval by the student’s university.

It is designed for current university students who would like to gain practical, hands-on experience in marketing and communications while completing their university studies.

About Us

Aussie Hybrid Solar is the customer-facing solar and battery installation service brand operated by JT Solar Technology Pty Ltd, a Sydney-based renewable energy technology company established in 2009.

Our work covers solar photovoltaic systems, battery storage, smart energy applications, system design, commissioning and ongoing support across residential, strata, commercial and industrial projects.

JT Solar Technology has also established a Joint Battery Testing Laboratory with UNSW, supporting applied research and the evaluation of battery performance, safety, reliability and compatibility.

About the Placement

We are seeking two to three current university students interested in marketing, communications, public relations, social media, content creation, events and renewable energy.

Students will participate in structured and supervised learning activities involving clean energy marketing, digital communications, industry events and partnership stories.

The placement will provide exposure to real marketing projects while helping students develop practical skills in communication, content planning, research and campaign support.

Learning Project Areas

During the placement, students may:

• Assist with social media content research, planning and preparation
• Support the development of brochures, flyers and campaign materials
• Research renewable energy market trends and customer communication topics
• Assist with public relations, media materials and partnership stories
• Support the development of video content, case studies and interview materials
• Assist with LinkedIn, website, EDM and digital marketing content
• Organise marketing assets, project photos and content records
• Support communication materials for clean energy projects and industry events
• Assist with customer journey and competitor research
• Review selected marketing campaign results under supervision
• Prepare a final marketing project report or presentation

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the placement, students should be able to:

• Plan marketing content for different communication channels
• Conduct basic market, customer and competitor research
• Prepare clear and professional marketing materials
• Understand how digital marketing supports business objectives
• Apply brand and communication guidelines
• Support campaign, event and stakeholder communications
• Organise marketing assets and project information

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

• Be currently enrolled at an Australian university
• Be studying Marketing, Communications, Media, Public Relations, Business, Commerce or a related field
• Have an interest in renewable energy, sustainability, technology or innovation
• Have good writing, communication and organisational skills
• Be proactive, reliable and willing to learn
• Be able to work independently and under supervision

Placement Arrangement

• This is an unpaid vocational or Work Integrated Learning placement, subject to formal approval by the student’s university.
• The placement is expected to last approximately one to three months, depending on the university’s requirements and approved placement hours.
• The attendance schedule will be agreed between the student, the university and the host organisation.
• The placement will focus on structured learning, practical marketing training, industry exposure and professional development.
• Regular workplace supervision, guidance and feedback will be provided.
• The placement will not commence until the university’s written approval and all required placement documentation have been completed.
• After the approved placement has formally ended, the company may separately advertise paid casual or part-time positions, depending on business requirements.
• Placement participants may apply through a separate recruitment process.
• Any paid employment would be covered by a separate written employment agreement and is not guaranteed as part of the placement.
