About the role
At Aurecon, we are optimistic about the future. We are thinkers, solvers, and collaborators who work with our clients to deliver the infrastructure and assets that strengthen communities and create a sustainable future.
Our Water, Environment and Land team is changing how we assess flood impact and support flood resilient across some of NSW’s more complex infrastructure, water and energy projects, from new interchanges and freight routes to renewable energy generation and resilient transport corridors.
What will you do?
This is an exciting opportunity for Senior or Lead Hydrology & Flooding / Drainage engineer to join our growing NSW Hydrology & Flooding Team in Sydney or Newcastle as a Senior member of the team.
This will be a start of exploring more growth with a world-class company and various types and scales of projects within but not limited to NSW and ACT.
On a day-to-day basis, you will tackle the delivery of flood assessment on major Transport/Land/Water infrastructure/Dams/Energy projects across NSW/ACT. You will collaborate across disciplines internally and externally with clients and public authorities to address technical queries and drive an optimum engineering solution.
As a Senior or Lead Hydrology & Flooding engineer in the NSW Hydrology & Flooding team (Sydney/Newcastle), you will join as a key member that adds to the diversity of thought, skills, and experience of the group. We know the work we do is vital in assisting our region's flood resilient and flood recovery and, it's the technical expertise and the depth of knowledge of our people that really sets us apart. In this role, you will 'Bring Ideas to Life' for Aurecon and our clients.
The role
Due to recent project wins in the Transport, Water, Energy and Advisory Markets we are growing our team. In this position, you will play an integral part in an ANZ team of highly skilled flooding specialists that 'bring ideas to life' for our clients.
In this role, you will conduct hydrological and hydraulic investigations and design for a wide range of projects through collaboration with other transport (road and rail), drainage, land development, dams, water resources advisory, and energy teams.
What we are looking for:
Bachelor or Masters' level degree in civil or environmental engineering and tertiary qualification
10+ years of experience in the flooding industry
Proficiency in TUFLOW, RORB, WBNM, and XP-RAFTS required
Proficiency in GIS software such as QGIS, ArcGIS or MapInfo
Ability to analyse, interpret and communicate information and modelling results
Strong understanding of Australian Rainfall and Runoff (ARR) 2019
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively at an internal level
Ability to deliver the flood modelling tasks on time within the budget, time frame and high quality
Have an interest in technological advances and applying innovation
How we support your growth
At Aurecon you’ll be supported to grow your technical skills and your career, not just fill a role. You’ll be part of a team recognised for innovation, sustainability and inclusive culture through multiple external awards.
You’ll have access to:
Flexible and hybrid working arrangements so you can balance project delivery with life outside work
Tailored learning opportunities and support to build your drainage, flooding, civil and broader consulting skills
Directly working with a large and technically strong team of over 30 stormwater engineers
Technical communities and mentoring to further connect you with specialists across Australia, New Zealand and globally
A workplace that genuinely values diversity, with tangible initiatives supporting inclusion, reconciliation and wellbeing
