About the role
We’re Little Dreamers, Australia’s leading non-profit organisation working with Young Carers across the country.
A Young Carer is a young person aged 4 to 25 who provides or intends to provide care, support or assistance for a family member affected by disability, chronic or mental illness, substance use, or frail age.
Founded in 2009 by a Young Carer, we love building and delivering high quality programs that create deep and meaningful impact in the lives of young people providing care in their families. And we’re pretty good at it too.
To date, we have supported over 5,000 Young Carers, we deliver eight core programs alongside ad hoc supports, advocacy and community awareness campaigns. We have strong corporate partnership and funding relationships and have raised over $5 million to improve the quality of life for Young Carers around Australia.
We have even received recognition from Queen Elizabeth II and have been named as an internationally best practice organisation for Young Carer support.
Our team is made up of 50 incredible humans working across VIC, NSW, QLD. We are humble, hungry, kind and work hard to reach our goals. We believe in a world where every single Young Carer is supported by someone or something by 2030. Sounds fun right?!
By joining the Dream Team, you will play an integral part in supporting young people who often miss out on having a childhood.
The Marketing and Communications Manager will plan, develop and implement Little Dreamers’ overall Marketing and Communications Strategy and Action Plan. Reporting to the Chief Operations and Partnerships Officer, this role will work with the Little Dreamers’ national team to develop and implement communication plans to broaden the impact of both the Little Dreamers’ and Young Carer Wellbeing Hub’s programs, brand and services.
This role requires creativity, initiative and an ‘out-of-the-box’ attitude to be able to grow awareness of Little Dreamers and the Young Carer Wellbeing Hub in the wider community, coordinate advocacy and awareness campaigns, and develop and implement a communications strategy to support the promotion of all our programs across VIC, QLD and NSW.
You will have autonomy to affect change within the organisation and develop strategies from the ground up. Working within tight budgets and resource constraints, you will build strong relationships with media outlets and industry contacts, confidently pitching stories and seizing opportunities to elevate our advocacy efforts and profile in the media landscape.
If you've got a degree in marketing, communications, or a related field, along with a flair for managing brand identity across multiple channels, you're exactly who we're looking for!
As our ideal candidate, you're a master communicator with a proven track record in executing internal and external communication strategies from crafting captivating newsletters to excelling in social media management, you know how to engage our audience and spread the word.
With strong strategic, project management, proofreading skills and prioritisation skills honed at a senior level, you'll coordinate team workloads, train colleagues on branding guidelines and build collaborative relationships across departments with ease.
Your PR and media relations know-how includes securing earned media coverage, elevating advocacy campaigns, and positioning organisations as trusted sector voices. You're also technically savvy, comfortable managing WordPress websites and using tools like Asana, JotForm, and Salesforce and bring hands-on experience supporting fundraising through marketing campaigns and donor communications.
At Little Dreamers, you’re not just joining a team, you’re becoming part of a passionate community dedicated to making a meaningful impact. Our team is driven by shared values, a strong sense of collaboration, and a commitment to creating a brighter future for Young Carers.
You will also have access to salary sacrifice packaging, an internal Employee Assistance Program (EAP), paid carer’s leave and parental leave options.
We care about our team members just as much as we care about our Young Carers. We offer flexible working arrangements and organise team bonding activities to ensure a sense of connection and support.
This position is classified as Level 5, part time employee (30.4 hours per week) under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010.
