Working four days per week, 7.6 hours per day, this role is ideal for an accountant looking for meaningful, hands-on work while maintaining genuine flexibility.
QMF is a music and cultural tourism organisation behind Qld Music Trails, bringing artists, audiences and communities together in some of Queensland’s most extraordinary locations.
Reporting to the General Manager, Finance and Business Intelligence, you’ll play a valued role in keeping QMF’s financial operations accurate, compliant and running smoothly - supporting both our day-to-day operations and the delivery of programs and events across our state.
About the role
This is a broad, hands-on Financial Accountant position where you’ll take ownership of key financial processes and work closely with stakeholders across the organisation.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable and accounts receivable
Supporting effective cash flow management
Administering payroll, superannuation, and WorkCover requirements
Completing regular balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining an accurate organisational asset register
Preparing financial and ad hoc reports to support business decision-making
Supporting financial compliance and statutory obligations
Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, systems and reporting
Working collaboratively with team members to provide practical financial support and advice
About you
You’re a capable accountant who enjoys being close to the detail, takes pride in accuracy and can confidently manage competing priorities. You’ll bring:
A Bachelor degree in Accounting, Business (Finance) or a related discipline
At least three years’ experience in financial operations, accounting or financial management
Solid practical financial accounting knowledge and technical capability
Experience completing reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records
Sound knowledge of financial compliance and reporting requirements
Sound Microsoft Office skills
Confidence communicating and building relationships with a range of stakeholders
Strong organisation, time management, and attention to detail
A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership of and prioritise your work
Experience using Xero and ApprovalMax will be beneficial but not mandatory.
Why join QMF?
At QMF, finance isn’t operating on the sidelines. You’ll be part of a lean, collaborative and passionate team supporting projects that bring music, tourism and cultural experiences to communities across Queensland.
Based at our South Brisbane head office, you’ll work alongside people who genuinely care about QMF’s purpose, enjoy working together and know how to have some fun while delivering great work. It’s a friendly, down-to-earth environment where you’ll get exposure across the organisation and see the impact of your work firsthand.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
Work in a fun, purpose-driven organisation where no two days are quite the same
Be part of a close-knit team passionate about what they do and the communities QMF works with
Take ownership of a broad and varied accounting portfolio
Free on-site gym, end of trip facilities, and office power-snacks
Work closely with senior leaders and colleagues across the organisation
Have a genuine voice in improving financial systems, processes, and ways of working
See your work directly support the delivery of incredible music and cultural experiences across Queensland
Enjoy the flexibility and work-life balance of a four-day working week
