Food and Beverage Supervisor

About the role

The Food and Beverage Supervisor will help lead Wynnum Manly Yacht Club's transition to a club-operated, integrated food and beverage model. The role supports the day-to-day delivery of café, bar, functions, social events, member services and sailing event hospitality under the Wynnum Manly Yacht Club brand. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to an emerging hospitality professional who is ready to prove themselves. The successful candidate will have enough operational experience to supervise service from day one, while also bringing the ambition, energy and discipline to grow into broader venue leadership over time.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily café, bar and front-of-house service to ensure friendly, efficient and consistent customer experiences.
• Lead by example during busy periods, including coffee service, counter service, table service, bar support, clearing, setup and close-down.
• Support the Club Manager with rostering, staff deployment and demand-based labour planning using bookings, weather, trading patterns and sailing calendars.
• Coordinate team members across café and bar operations to reduce duplication and improve service coverage.
• Train, coach and motivate junior, casual and part-time staff in service standards, food safety, responsible service and club expectations.
• Monitor presentation, cleanliness, stock levels, wastage, cash handling and end-of-shift procedures.
• Support simple menu execution, specials, event packages and coordinated food-and-beverage offers that increase member and visitor spend.
• Assist with functions, Friday evening trade, social events, regattas, presentation days and peak sailing periods.
• Help maintain compliance with food safety, workplace health and safety, liquor licensing requirements and responsible service obligations.
• Provide practical feedback to management on customer demand, team performance, stock usage, menu issues and service improvement opportunities.

About you

• Previous hospitality experience in a café, bar, restaurant, club, venue, hotel or events environment.
• Some experience supervising or informally leading staff, shifts or service areas.
• Ability to work hands-on across front-of-house, café and bar service.
• Strong customer service instincts and a professional, approachable manner with members, guests and the public.
• Good organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Willingness to learn commercial hospitality disciplines including labour control, stock control, wastage management and service reporting.
• Availability across weekdays, weekends, evenings, functions and sailing event periods.
• Current Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate or willingness to obtain before commencement.
• Food safety knowledge or willingness to complete relevant training.
• A positive, practical and ambitious attitude, with a genuine desire to build a career in hospitality leadership.
