Syndicate Communications is a leading Australian telecommunications contractor delivering projects and network services for some of Australia’s leading telecommunications customers, including Optus, Telstra and TPG.
With a long history in the Australian telecommunications industry and operations across multiple states, we are continuing to grow and are looking for experienced Telecommunications Technicians to join our team.
About the RoleAs a Telecommunications Technician with Syndicate Communications, you will work across a variety of telecommunications network projects including installation, construction, testing, commissioning, maintenance, fault finding and network upgrades.
You will work on customer telecommunications sites and exchanges, installing equipment to specification and ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately and to the required customer standards.
Your work may include transmission equipment, fibre, copper, DC power systems, racks and infrastructure, routers, switches and other telecommunications network equipment.
Key ResponsibilitiesInterpret construction, design and installation packs and complete works to customer specifications
Install and construct telecommunications infrastructure
Install telecommunications equipment including routers, switches, transmission and associated network equipment
Install, terminate, label and test copper, fibre and other telecommunications cabling
Undertake optical fibre splicing and testing where required
Carry out equipment testing, commissioning and integration
Monitor telecommunications networks and diagnose faults and equipment malfunctions
Undertake maintenance, repairs, upgrades and equipment replacement
Complete site documentation including as-builts, DBoR, TNI and customer asset records
Accurately record installed, removed and existing customer assets
Participate in site planning, pre-starts, toolbox meetings, SWMS and JSA processes
Follow customer WINS, MOPS, Hazard Permits and site procedures
Liaise with Supervisors, Project Managers, customers and other technicians
Maintain a safe, clean and professional worksite
Comply with Syndicate Communications and customer WHS, environmental, quality and security requirements
We are looking for experienced telecommunications technicians who take pride in their workmanship, can work independently and enjoy being part of a professional field team.
You will have:
A strong commitment to workplace health and safety
A current Australian driver's licence
The ability to read and interpret telecommunications design and construction packs
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
Good communication and customer liaison skills
High attention to detail and quality of workmanship
The ability to accurately complete electronic and written site documentation
The ability to work independently as well as part of a project team
Telecommunications exchange environments
ISAM and DSLAM equipment
SDH, DWDM and transmission networks
Exchange cabling including Cat 5, Cat 6 and fibre
Telstra DBoR systems and access
Optical fibre splicing and testing
Telecommunications rack and ironwork construction
Telstra infrastructure standards including CN1234
DC telecommunications power systems
Cable installation and termination
Telecommunications equipment installation, testing and commissioning
Network maintenance and fault rectification
Applicants should hold, or be able to obtain where applicable:
Registered Cabler licence
Construction Industry White Card
Current Australian driver's licence
Other telecommunications industry licences, customer accreditations and competencies will be highly regarded.
