Horse Stud Stable Hand

About the role

We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Horse Stud Stable Hand to join the team at Coldstream Park Warmblood Stud. This is a casual position based in Coldstream VIC 3770, offering flexibility for the right candidate. As a Stable Hand, you will play a vital role in maintaining the health, welfare and comfort of our warmblood horses, ensuring the stud operates to the highest standards of horse care and husbandry. Your work will be essential to supporting our breeding programme and maintaining our reputation for excellence in equine care.

What you'll be doing

• Daily feeding and watering of horses, ensuring all animals receive appropriate nutrition and hydration

• Mucking out stables and maintaining clean, hygienic living environments for all horses

• Grooming, checking and monitoring horses for signs of illness or injury

• Assisting with basic veterinary care and treatments as directed by senior staff

• Maintaining and cleaning all equestrian equipment, including saddles, bridles and rugs

• Supporting the exercise and turnout of horses in paddocks and arenas

• Assisting with stud operations, including foaling watch and neonatal foal care where appropriate

• Maintaining detailed records of horse care and health observations

• Ensuring all facilities, fencing and paddocks are safe and well-maintained

• Working collaboratively with the stud team to maintain health and safety standards

What we're looking for

• Proven experience working with horses, preferably in a stud, breeding or stable yard environment

• Genuine passion for horse welfare and a commitment to high standards of animal care

• Ability to undertake physically demanding work, including heavy lifting and repetitive tasks

• Knowledge of horse nutrition, grooming and basic health and safety practices

• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team

• Reliability and commitment to punctuality, essential for daily animal care routines

• Willingness to learn and adapt to the specific requirements of our warmblood stud

• Experience with record-keeping and attention to detail

• Current driver's licence is desirable

• A good working knowledge of biosecurity protocols and farm safety is advantageous
