About the role
Full time | Brisbane office | Red Union Support Hub (RUSH)
Are you an industrial relations, employee relations or HR practitioner who wants to spend your time on real matters rather than process? At Red Union Support Hub, our Industrial Advocates run live workplace disputes for members every day - unfair dismissal, general protections, disciplinary and misconduct matters, pay and classification disputes, and workplace bullying claims.
We're looking for an IR Advisor to join the team in Brisbane.
What You'll DoAdvise members on workplace issues by phone and email - disciplinary processes, performance management, classification and underpayment, termination and post-employment obligations
Manage a caseload of matters end to end, from first contact through to resolution
Interpret and apply enterprise agreements, modern awards and the Fair Work Act to member circumstances
Prepare correspondence to employers, submissions and supporting material for Fair Work Commission matters
Support members through conciliations and internal employer processes
Work alongside our in-house solicitors on matters that escalate
Keep clear file notes and case records so matters progress without gaps
At least 2 years' experience in industrial relations, employee relations or HR - employer association, in-house, consultancy or advisory background all welcome
Working knowledge of the Fair Work Act, modern awards and enterprise agreements
Confidence handling difficult conversations with members and employers
Sound judgement about when a matter needs escalating and when it doesn't
Strong written and verbal communication - you can put a position clearly and hold it
Ability to manage a volume caseload without losing detail
Genuine commitment to fairness at work
Relevant tertiary qualifications in IR, HR, employment law or a related field are well regarded, though we're more interested in what you can do than what you've studied.
Why Join UsReal matters, real outcomes. You'll run your own caseload for members who need help now, not sit behind a policy desk.
Depth, not just volume. Exposure to complex matters, Fair Work Commission processes and enterprise bargaining, with experienced advocates and in-house solicitors alongside you.
Work that matters. We support tens of thousands of nurses, teachers, doctors and police officers across Australia and New Zealand.
Red Union enables the alternative to traditional unions. We service the independent, apolitical professional associations that protect nurses, teachers, doctors and police officers at work, supporting tens of thousands of members across Australia and New Zealand.
We're also building something bigger: a one-stop employment shop. Alongside our union services, we run a tax accounting firm, an employment law firm and a CPD platform for nurses.
