Farm Manager

About the role

The successful applicant will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the cropping program, persistent of rain grown crops - sorghum, forage, hays, corn silage, as well as the operation and maintenance of plant and machinery, at our property located approximately 240 km south of Darwin.

Key responsibilities

• Overseeing general farm operations

• Managing and coordinating 4-5 farm staff and contractors

• Machinery and equipment operation and maintenance

• Property maintenance and infrastructure

• Planning and completing seasonal farming activities

• Maintaining a safe and productive working environment

• General farm duties as required

• Reporting to the directors

• Crop budgeting and planning working in with cattle manager

• Looking after approximately 4,000ha mixed cropping and new developing country

• Organising crop rotation

• Hay, Grain and Silage Production

• Farm Planning layout, cropping rotational programs

• Working with advanced agronomist

About you

• Minimum 5 year experienced in a farm management or senior agricultural role

• Knowable in John Deer Opps Centre and Green Star

• Practical, reliable and hardworking

• Able to work independently and as part of a team

• A confident machinery operator and willing to teach others

• Committed to maintaining strict maintenance schedules

• Comfortable living and working in a remote station environment

• Well-organised with a strong attention to detail

• Enjoy days off while fishing in the Daly River and camping
