Accounts Officer (Part Time)

We are looking for an experienced Accounts Officer to join our finance team on a part time basis, working 9.30am to 2.30pm Monday to Friday. Five shorter days rather than a compressed two or three day week means consistent, predictable hours that fit comfortably around school drop off and pick up where applicable and start and finish times are negotiable with the successful candidate.

Reporting to our Accounts & Payroll Manager, you will provide day to day support across payroll and accounts payable, with training and development into the wider finance function over time. This is a hands on support role in a small team, so accuracy, discretion and a willingness to pick up the phone all matter.

Your core responsibilities will include:

•    Supporting the fortnightly payroll run, including timesheet review, new starter and termination data entry, and leave entitlement checks

•    Preparing payroll reports and assisting with superannuation and PAYG processing

•    Processing supplier invoices, matching purchase orders and reconciling supplier statements

•    Preparing payment runs for review and approval

•    Maintaining accurate employee and supplier records

•    Responding to payroll and supplier enquiries from staff and vendors

•    General administrative support to the finance team as required

About you

•    Demonstrated experience in an accounts support role, ideally in a business with a large hourly workforce

•    Exposure to payroll processing and a working understanding of superannuation and PAYG obligations

•    Confident with accounting and payroll systems (we use Employment Hero) and strong Excel skills

•    Careful and methodical, with genuine attention to detail

•    Keen to learn and take on additional responsibility over time

•    Able to handle confidential information with discretion

•    Clear, courteous communicator who can deal with staff and suppliers directly

•    Experience with modern award interpretation is well regarded but not essential, as training will be provided

•    Full working rights in Australia and willingness to complete a police check
