Timber Sawyer / Hundegger Operator

About the role

Timco is seeking an experienced Timber Sawyer / Hundegger Operator to join our timber production team at our Salisbury branch. This is initially a casual position working a four-day week during the quieter winter period, increasing to full-time hours during busier periods.

Key responsibilities

• Safely operate the Hundegger automated timber-cutting machine
• Review cutting lists, production drawings and job specifications
• Select and load the correct timber grades, profiles and lengths
• Monitor cutting programs and ensure components are cut accurately
• Check finished components against measurements and production requirements
• Identify timber defects and minimise waste through careful timber selection
• Label, sort and stack cut components for roof and floor truss production
• Safely move timber and finished packs using a forklift where licensed
• Perform routine machine checks, basic maintenance and fault identification
• Keep the machinery, work area and surrounding production area clean and safe

About you

• Previous experience manufacturing timber roof and floor trusses
• Sound knowledge of structural timber, including common sizes, grades and lengths
• Experience operating timber saws or automated/CNC production machinery
• Ability to read cutting lists, measurements, production drawings and job specifications
• Good mechanical aptitude and basic computer skills
• Strong attention to accuracy, quality and safe machine operation
• Physically capable of safely undertaking repetitive manual handling and heavy lifting
• Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• A strong commitment to workplace health and safety
• Availability to commence immediately
