Pharmacy Software Architect / Lead (.NET / Azure)

About the Role
This role will be responsible for working with stakeholders across Fred and Fred's customers to define the software architecture, provide technical leadership and drive the ongoing evolution of several Fred software products deployed to pharmacies across Australia.

The successful candidate will operate across both cloud and client-based applications, with a strong focus on software engineering and architecture.

The role spans cloud-hosted services, web applications, .NET back-end services, APIs and Windows client applications, with a focus on Microsoft stack solutions.

The initial focus will be on pharmacy commercial business applications, supporting retail pharmacy product evolution, and customer outcomes.

About You

You bring strong software engineering and architecture experience, with the ability to influence technical direction and deliver high-quality solutions in a commercial environment.

You'll likely bring experience in:

• Leading the delivery of complex commercial software products.

• Applying secure coding practices and API security standards.

• Working across the SDLC in Agile/SAFe environments, including requirements elicitation, architecture and design, and automated quality assurance.

• Building and operating solutions using Azure services and CI/CD practices, particularly Azure DevOps, Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Service Bus, Blob Storage and Azure SQL.

• Developing front-end applications using Angular or React, with JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5 and CSS3.

• Building C#/.NET applications and services, including modern .NET versions such as .NET 6 and .NET 8+, Web API and RESTful services, and Windows client applications.

What You’ll Do

• Work with both internal stakeholders and external customers, requiring strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Drive the architectural direction of multiple products and services, and drive technical excellence through architecture development, software design guidance, code reviews and development best practices.

• Provide hands-on technical mentoring, leadership and feature development across development teams.

• Collaborate with the Chief Architect and wider architecture team to ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture principles, strategic technology direction, and non-functional requirements.

• Partner with Delivery Leads and Information Security team to ensure development practices align with delivery, quality, security, and governance expectations.

• Champion AI enablement within the delivery teams, including responsible adoption of AI-assisted development capabilities.

Essential Experience Required

• Experience working directly with customers and business stakeholders.

• Strong experience leading software engineering and architecture initiatives.

• Strong architecture and software design experience.

• Proven experience leading and mentoring development teams.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.

• Strong hands-on software development background.

• Ability to operate effectively across architecture, technical leadership and delivery concerns.

Desirable Experience

• Pharmacy or Healthcare industry experience

• Relevant tertiary qualifications

• Federal Police Check and Baseline Security Clearance (as required)
