Maintenance Fitter (Afternoon Shift)

We're seeking a reliable and highly motivated Maintenance Fitter to join our manufacturing operation in Ferntree Gully.

Operating across multiple high-speed filling and packaging lines, our facility features industry-leading PLC-controlled machinery within a clean, safe and well-maintained production environment.

This is a permanent afternoon shift position (3:00pm to 11:06pm, Monday to Friday). To ensure a successful transition into the role, the successful candidate will complete a comprehensive 3-month induction and training program on day shift (7:00am to 3:06pm, Monday to Friday) before moving to the afternoon shift roster.

Once fully trained, you will become the primary maintenance resource on afternoon shift, taking ownership of breakdown response, fault finding, preventative maintenance activities and supporting production to maximise equipment reliability and uptime.

• Provide timely maintenance support to production lines to minimise downtime

• Diagnose, troubleshoot and permanently rectify mechanical faults

• Carry out preventative maintenance activities in accordance with scheduled plans

• Perform equipment setup and changeovers to support production requirements

• Maintain plant equipment and site infrastructure to a high standard

• Work autonomously to prioritise maintenance activities across the site

• Escalate significant issues and coordinate support where required

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability and efficiency

To succeed in this role, you'll be a self-driven tradesperson who enjoys working independently and taking ownership of outcomes. You will have:

• A recognised Mechanical Trade qualification (Fitter & Turner, Maintenance Fitter or equivalent)

• Previous experience in FMCG manufacturing or a similar fast-paced production environment

• Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving skills

• Experience with fitting and turning, pneumatics, hydraulics, welding and basic fabrication

• The ability to work confidently and effectively with minimal supervision

• Basic computer skills for CMMS and maintenance reporting systems

• Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to safety

• A current D-Permit (essential)

• TIG welding experience (highly regarded)
