About the role
Position Title: Initial Assessment and Referral (IAR) Intake Clinician
Contract Type: Maxi-Term contract until 30 June 2027. This position is being offered in a part-time capacity of 4 days per week, Tuesday to Friday.
Location: Kingswood, NSW (hybrid work arrangements may be considered upon application in line with our Work from Home Policy).
Remuneration: $101,131* Full Time Equivalent (potential maximum grossed up salary equivalent $108,614**)

About:The role of the Initial Assessment and Referral (IAR) Intake Clinician is to support the Medicare Mental Health phone service operated by Wentworth Healthcare. The phone service provides a highly visible and accessible entry point to mental health support for people experiencing psychological distress, through a no wrong door approach.
The IAR Intake Clinician provides individuals contacting the service with information and/or initial assessment, triage and referral to appropriate mental health services, including Medicare Mental Health Centres.
Selection Criteria:Essential
Qualified Psychologist (must be provisionally registered as a minimum – if provisionally registered, you must have a current primary supervisor), Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or Registered Nurse, holding current registration with AHPRA or equivalent professional body, with at least 2 years postgraduate experience in a mental health setting.
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication and engagement skills with the ability to liaise with a range of individuals from diverse backgrounds and professional levels within established parameters. This includes, but is not limited to, the ability to liaise with internal and external agencies, the ability to engage with carers and people experiencing distress and the development of reports.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
Proven ability to utilise information technology tools and products to an intermediate level, including learning and adopting a suite of digital platforms for reporting and data collection and research purposes.
Demonstrated experience in conducting psychosocial assessments and mental health triage, and the ability to co-ordinate care for individuals.
Demonstrated experience and skills in clinical decision making, suicide risk assessment, problem solving, negotiation and crisis management.
Demonstrated knowledge of and sensitivity to the mental health needs of individuals and their supports.
Awareness of National Safety and Quality Digital Mental Health Standards.
Desirable
Experience conducting mental health risk assessments and psychosocial assessments using remote consultation methods
Experience in collaborative partnerships with government or non-government organisations, including working with a range of community partners.
Experience with National Safety and Quality Digital Mental Health Standards
