Football Performance Analyst Internship

The GWS GIANTS are offering an exciting opportunity to join their football analytics internship program for the upcoming 2027 campaign. Aimed at ambitious, hands-on candidates looking to develop in a high performance environment, this opportunity will provide education and development in the key areas required as an analyst at the elite level.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

You’ll play an important role in capturing training and match vision, using this in conjunction with data to conduct analysis work supporting GIANTS game style, player education and opposition scouting at both AFL & VFL level. In doing so, you will build proficiency in the processes used by analysts to code and organise vision for coaches, as well as data visualisation and matchday workflows.

DURATION

The program will run from November 2026 through to September 2027. This role requires 8-10 hours per week, including availability for weekend matches.

CRITERIA DESIRABLE

• AFL background highly preferred
• Interest in analytics & elite sport
• Familiarity with Apple & Mac workflows

ESSENTIAL

• Valid National Police Check
• NSW Working With Children Check
• Weekend availability in-season

This internship can be completed as either a;

1. University Vocational Placement (For-Credit) - requiring university approval
2. Volunteer Internship (Non-University) - seeking experience outside of formal study

NOTE - This is an unpaid, educational role. Expenses incurred during the program will be reimbursed.
