Supervising Tax Agent

The Opportunity Our client is a well-established and growing accounting firm based in Bankstown, seeking an experienced and technically strong Supervising Tax Agent to join their team.

This is a key leadership opportunity for a Registered Tax Agent who is looking to take ownership of tax compliance, provide technical direction to a team, and play an important role in maintaining high professional and regulatory standards across the practice.

You will work with a diverse client portfolio while partnering closely with the firm's leadership team and accounting professionals.
Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and supervise the firm's tax agent services and compliance activities.
• Ensure all work complies with TPB requirements, the Tax Agent Services Act 2009, and the Code of Professional Conduct.
• Review and sign off on complex and high-risk tax matters.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to accounting staff.
• Ensure tax positions are appropriately supported by legislation and relevant ATO guidance.
• Maintain strong quality assurance, risk management, and compliance processes.
• Be available to provide supervision and technical direction to the team.
• Liaise with key clients on complex taxation and compliance matters when required.

About You To be successful in this role, you must have:

• Current Registered Tax Agent status – mandatory.
• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Previous experience within an Australian public practice accounting firm – essential.
• Strong knowledge of Australian taxation, tax compliance, and regulatory requirements.
• Proven ability to review complex tax matters and provide technical guidance.
• Strong leadership, communication, and client relationship skills.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to professional and ethical standards.
