Yard Supervisor

About the role

The Yard Manager will be responsible for overseeing all movements throughout the facility, including managing two crane crews, coordinating mould and pool movements, maintaining yard organisation, and ensuring departments receive what they need when they need it. You will become the central point of coordination for yard operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and controlled movement across the site while helping drive continuous improvement initiatives. One of your first major projects will be assisting in the development and implementation of a new yard management system. Similar to a car park layout, every mould and pool will have a designated location, creating greater visibility, accountability, efficiency, and operational control. This role will suit someone who enjoys planning, solving problems, leading people, and improving systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise two crane crews and yard personnel

• Coordinate all mould, pool, and equipment movements throughout the facility

• Ensure production departments receive pools and moulds on time to meet manufacturing schedules

• Participate in daily production meetings and coordinate closely with departmental supervisors

• Manage workflow priorities and make real-time decisions to maintain production efficiency

• Monitor yard productivity and identify opportunities for improvement

• Develop and maintain a structured yard management system

• Ensure all pools and moulds are stored in designated locations

• Assist in the planning and execution of a major yard reorganisation project

• Maintain accurate records of mould locations, pool locations, movements, and status updates.

• Champion a strong safety culture throughout the yard

About you

• Previous experience in Yard Management, Logistics, Manufacturing, Operations, Transport, Warehousing, or a similar leadership role

• Experience supervising teams in a fast-paced operational environment

• Strong planning and organisational skills

• Proven ability to coordinate multiple moving parts simultaneously

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

• Strong problem-solving capability

• Computer literacy with experience using spreadsheets and operational reporting systems

• A commitment to workplace health and safety

• Ability to work autonomously and make informed decisions

• Physically fit and comfortable working in an active outdoor environment

• High Risk work licences or knowledge (Fork, Crane, dogging, rigging) are highly regarded
