With a reputation for quality and innovation, we work with several levels and segments of business in our industry, including but not limited to Tier 1 and Tier 2 construction companies, building and engineering consultants, O.E.M.’s, electrical contractors etc. Our product is bespoke and is supplied to key industry sectors such as the mining, oil and gas, health care, data centre and power and water utilities sectors.We are part of a global business with it headquarters based in the US, and the APAC head office based in the South Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. We are experiencing rapid growth due to a change in regulatory compliance in the industry sector we service and we expect this growth to continue, hence the need for a Mechanical Engineering Manager to be appointed.
About the Role We are seeking an experienced and motivated Qualified Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team in the design, development, and delivery of high-quality mechanical solutions. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing engineering projects, managing technical staff, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineers and technical staff.Manage the planning, design, and execution of mechanical engineering projects.Ensure engineering designs comply with relevant standards, regulations, and quality requirements.Collaborate with production, operations, maintenance, procurement, and project stakeholders.Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.Drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance and efficiency.Manage project risks and resolve technical challenges.Support business development by providing technical expertise for proposals and client presentations.Promote a strong culture of workplace health, safety, and environmental compliance.
About YouYou are a mentoring leader with strong technical expertise and excellent communication skills. You enjoy mentoring others, solving complex engineering challenges, and delivering successful outcomes.
Essential Qualifications & ExperienceQualified Mechanical Engineer8+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including leadership and management responsibilities.Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and engineering standards.Proven experience managing multidisciplinary engineering projects.Excellent leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency with CAD & SolidWorks software and engineering analysis tools.Experience managing project budgets and schedulesCandidates must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
DesirableChartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or eligibility to obtain chartered status.Project Management qualification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent).Experience within manufacturing, mining, energy, infrastructure, or power generation sectorsKnowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
