We are currently seeking an experienced Trade Qualified Foundry Moulder to join our Ipswich operations on a full-time, permanent basis, with regular overtime available.
About the RoleWorking within our Beforecast team, you will prepare sand moulds for the casting of molten metal in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This role offers:
38-hour week (Monday to Friday)

You will report directly to the Beforecast Team Leader and work as part of a skilled, collaborative production team.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduce moulds and cores using boxed and boxless moulding techniques
Select appropriate metal stock to meet job and casting requirements
Operate sand mixing machinery and prepare moulding boxes, setting patterns in place prior to pour
Fill moulding boxes with sand, apply refractory paint, and position cores correctly in moulds
Pour or assist with pouring molten metal into prepared moulds
Heat metal in furnaces and apply hammering, punching, and cutting techniques using hand tools and machine presses where required
Temper and harden finished articles through quenching in oil or water baths, or by controlled air cooling
Cut, trim, shape, and smooth stock to form mould patterns
Inspect patterns and identify defects impacting casting quality
Apply basic metallurgy principles to support sound castings
Finish metal articles by polishing, buffing, and applying shellac, lacquer, paint, or other specified finishes
Operate overhead cranes and lifting equipment safely
Correct use and maintenance of PPE and safety equipment
Maintain clean and organised work areas
Contribute to continuous improvement and safe work practices
You will have one of the following:
Trade qualification as a Moulder, Patternmaker, Coremaker, Metallurgist, Furnaceman or Pourer, or
Minimum 4 years’ foundry experience
You will demonstrate:
Understanding of running and feeding systems
Knowledge of mould coating technology and finishing operations
Ability to interpret engineering drawings
Safe operation of overhead cranes and lifting equipment
Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
Commitment to workplace safety and team collaboration
