About The Role
The Business Intelligence team is responsible for delivering BI strategies, Data Warehousing and reporting solutions for the Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) Performance Unit. The purpose of BI solutions is to provide a robust, secure, reliable platform that delivers a single source of truth and enables clinicians/managers to use data for critical decision making.
The Senior Data Engineer/Architect role exists to provide knowledge and guidance in handling disparate data sources from varied systems, and to design, build and maintain the Data Architecture for the Performance Unit. This role is responsible for the timeliness & accuracy of data flow from source systems and the optimisation of data storage & accessibility to meet internal and external reporting demands.

Ideal Candidate
Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Software/Computer Engineering, Mathematics or Data Science and/or relevant equivalent professional experience. Experience working with cloud-based data and analytics infrastructure, including modern data integration, orchestration and processing services such as AWS Glue and transformation tools such as dbt. Strong working knowledge and skills in one or more contemporary programming or scripting languages (SQL/Python) used for data engineering, transformation and analytics, using tools such as VS Code.
