About the role

Bells Diesel Repairs Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Heavy Road Transport Mechanic to join our dynamic team in a hybrid role that combines both workshop and field-based work. This is a full-time position based in Lytton, QLD 4178. As a Heavy Road Transport Mechanic, you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing heavy vehicles and diesel engines, ensuring our clients' fleets operate safely and efficiently. This position is integral to our service delivery, combining technical expertise with customer-focused problem-solving across multiple locations and sites.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, service, and repair heavy vehicles, including trucks, buses and associated diesel engine systems

• Perform preventative maintenance schedules and inspections on heavy road transport vehicles

• Conduct roadside repairs and breakdowns, responding to call-outs and providing field-based mechanical support

• Utilise diagnostic equipment and tools to identify mechanical faults and implement effective solutions

• Maintain detailed service records and documentation for all work completed on vehicles

• Collaborate with workshop team members and field technicians to ensure efficient service delivery

• Adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations, including those specific to heavy vehicle maintenance

• Provide technical advice and guidance to clients regarding vehicle maintenance and repairs

• Source and manage parts and materials required for repairs and maintenance

What we're looking for

• A recognised Heavy Vehicle or Diesel Mechanic qualification

• Proven experience working on heavy road transport vehicles, diesel engines, and associated systems

• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Valid manual driver's licence with a good driving record, essential for field-based work

• Excellent knowledge of heavy vehicle safety standards and regulatory compliance requirements

• Proficiency with mechanical tools and diagnostic equipment commonly used in the heavy transport industry

• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients

• Physical fitness and the ability to perform tasks that may require manual handling and working at heights

• Experience with roadside/onsite breakdown repairs and emergency callout situations
