Disability Support Worker – Mental Health, AOD & Complex Behaviours

About the role

As a Disability Support Worker with NASS, you will provide individualised support based on each participant's goals, needs and preferences. This role would suit someone who is calm under pressure, able to build genuine rapport, understands professional boundaries and can provide consistent support to participants who may have complex support needs.

Key responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 community and in-home support
• Supporting participants experiencing mental health challenges
• Supporting participants with AOD-related needs
• Working with participants who may display behaviours of concern
• Using positive behaviour support and de-escalation strategies
• Supporting emotional regulation and maintaining a calm environment
• Community access, appointments and social participation
• Supporting participants to develop independence and everyday living skills
• Following behaviour support plans, risk assessments and participant support plans
• Completing accurate progress notes and incident documentation

About you

• Reliable, resilient, compassionate and confident working with participants who may have complex needs
• Understand that behaviour is communication and be able to remain calm, respectful and professional during challenging situations
• NDIS Worker Screening Check
• Working with Children Check where required
• Current First Aid and CPR
• Current Australian driver's licence
• Reliable and insured vehicle
• Relevant NDIS Worker Orientation training
• Appropriate qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in disability, mental health, community services or AOD support
