Laboratory Assistant

Join a Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology team supporting the St Andrews Ipswich Private Hospital. In this hands-on role, you will play a vital part in the laboratory process, ensuring specimens are handled accurately and efficiently to support timely patient diagnosis and care.

This position offers approximately 60 hours per fortnight and requires flexibility to work across a rotating roster, with shifts scheduled between 5:00am and 9:00pm Monday to Sunday.

This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable and detail-oriented individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced healthcare environment and takes pride in delivering high-quality service.

Key Responsibilities

• Performing pre-analytical processes accurately

• Load laboratory instruments and assist with general lab duties

• Manage incoming phone enquiries in a professional and timely manner

• Collect specimens from hospital wards and transport them safely to the laboratory (as required)

What we are looking for

We are seeking a dependable team member with a strong work ethic and the ability to multitask in a busy environment. As this role supports both an oncology clinic and hospital patients, a strong commitment to customer service is essential.

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:

• ​ Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

• Strong organisational and time management skills

• Effective communication skills

• Commitment to Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) policies and procedures

• Previous experience in pathology services and/or knowledge of Apollo (desirable but not essential)
