About the OpportunityCharles Elena is urgently recruiting a Financial Crime Tester to join a specialist technology team within a major Australian financial institution. This is a hands-on testing role focused on quality assurance across financial crime platforms and systems, ensuring solutions are reliable, compliant, and fit for purpose in a highly regulated environment.
The Details📍 Location: Sydney, NSW (must be locally based)📅 Start: Immediate⏳ Contract Length: 6 months
About YouYou are an experienced Tester with a solid background in financial crime or financial services technology. You are detail-oriented, methodical, and confident working across manual and automated testing in complex, regulated environments. You understand the stakes of financial crime platforms and bring the rigor to match.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, execute, and maintain test cases, test scripts, and test plans across financial crime platforms and systemsPerform functional, regression, integration, and UAT testing across multiple workstreamsIdentify, document, and track defects through to resolutionCollaborate with business analysts, developers, and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective test coverageContribute to test automation frameworks and continuous testing practicesSupport release and deployment activities, ensuring quality gates are metMaintain testing documentation, test evidence, and quality reportingContribute to continuous improvement of testing practices and processes
Required Experience & SkillsProven experience in software testing within financial services or financial crime environmentsStrong understanding of financial crime domains including AML, transaction monitoring, KYC, or related areasExperience with manual and automated testing tools and frameworksFamiliarity with API testing tools such as Postman or SoapUIExperience with test management tools such as Jira, Zephyr, or similarSolid understanding of Agile delivery methodologiesExperience with SQL and data validation testing highly regardedWestpac experience is a distinct advantageA self-sufficient and resourceful operator who works efficiently under pressure and delivers without the need for hand-holdingComfortable operating with confidence and composure in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
QualificationsMust be located in Sydney with full working rights. A tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline is advantageous. ISTQB certification is highly regarded.
